the

of
Scotland's
Capital
City.
We'll
contrast
the
compact

along
the
Royal

with
the
wide
streets
of
the
200-year-old
Georgian
New

We

On
April
16,
1746,
the
last

to

British
soil
took
less
than
an
hour
to
reach
its
bloody
conclusion
here
on
what
is
now
know
as
Culloden
Moor.
It
was
not,
as
often
portrayed,
a
battle
between
the
Scots
and
the
English:
large
numbers
of
Scots
fought
on
the
Government
side
while
the
Jacobite
army
included
French
units
and
some
English
Jacobites.
Rather
it
was
the
last
chapter
in
a
sporadic
civil
war
for
succession
to
the
throne
that
had
been
under
way
since
1688.
Upon

an

Wicklow Mountains & Glendalough
We depart after breakfast bound for Dublin. Located ten miles south of Dublin, the Wicklow Mountains feel remote and actually provided a refuge to those souls, back in the day, who desired not English Rule! In the 1798 Irish uprising, rebels hid here successfully for years. In 1800 the British built a road for military purposes to deal with the rebels, today we enjoy the route through the scenic area starting with the steep and wooded hills of Glendalough on the south side through to Dublin.
We arrive Dublin, check in, freshen up and enjoy a walkabout with the Tour Captain before an optional dinner tonight.
