QL Media, in association with Diva Productions, will be conducting auditions for “The Singers”(working title), an internet webisode comedy series.

Series is about Lynda Marie Powers, a confident, 30-something publicist working her way to the top of Nashville’s music industry. She has taken position as Lead Publicist for the National Gospel Singers Convention, an organization at the forefront of Southern Gospel music. It’s not mainstream Gospel or even Country, but it will give her much-needed experience with the national press. She must balance her goals with that of managing the careers and sordid personal lives of the artists she represents. It’s not an easy task!
Characters we are still casting for:

1. Lynda Marie Powers - (mid 30’s) - a beautiful but brash southern girl who is a shrewd professional in every way. She is slightly on the full-figured side but has a raw sexuality about her. Everything she does is big and bold, but at the same time she maintains a vulnerable, sensitive side that can be most attractive. Character type is Kirstie Alley or Courteney Cox.

2. Marsha De Salvo - (late 30’s) - slightly older and wiser about people and the industry. In her element she can be quite rough around the edges. She is attractive in a less sensual way and has a tendency to be quite comedic, even sarcastic at times. She is happy to play “second banana” and relishes her role of support, although Lynda sees her as an equal in every sense. Character types are Felicity Huffman, Peri Gilpin, Wanda Sykes, or Shelley Morrison.

5. Nelda Caldwell - (late 50’s or early 60’s) - an accomplished singer who is larger than life. She could have been an opera singer at the Met but chose instead to become the “The First Lady of Gospel”. Nelda thinks quite highly of herself and is all about putting on a show, on and off stage. She is a large woman with big hairdos and bright outfits, while her trademark is the tiara she wears for every performance. Character type is Conchata Ferrell.

6. Clarence “Clappy” Caldwell - (late 50’s to mid 60’s) - an accomplished veteran singer and husband of Nelda. His best days in gospel music are behind him, but he can still belt out a good one when needed. He is basically a gentle soul, but he can be quite salty and surprise people at the most inopportune times. He is devoted to his wife but has a slight wicked streak in him. Character type is John Goodman.

7. Billy Dale Caldwell - (early to mid 30’s) - a pudgy, baby-faced “yes man”. He is totally a mama’s boy and serves as the family’s body guard, although it is more for show than anything else. He cannot sing, which has been an embarrassment to his parents. He is a sexually frustrated young man who is looking for a way to be his own man. Character type is David Anthony Higgins.

All roles are Non-Paid, but we will provide screen credit, meals, a DVD copy of your work, and IMDB.com credit.
