Tours of Tuscany

If you are planning to take one of the tours of Tuscany prepare yourself for a real treat as this is one of the most beautiful areas of Central Italy. Long known as an area of Italy that is famous for its food, wines and hospitality, this area takes great pride in being the home of the finest Chianti wines in the world as well as growing the finest white truffles in the world. From excellent wines to superb foods your tour will leave mark on your heart that will have you wanting to come back time and time again as you seek the joys that Robert Browning once found here.

Should one of your tours of Tuscany be scheduled in November you can sample the truffles and the foods made with them during "La Sagra del Tartufo Bianco" or the Festival of the White Truffle that is held annually at the medieval town of San Miniato. Not only will you find a fantastic selection of foods and wines at the festival, but you will also find plenty of local crafts, theater shows and a multitude of marching bands performing during the festival. This festival is held during the third and fourth weekends of the month.

If you are truly interested in the local foods, head to the 1,000 year old town of Suvereto where in late November they hold a wild boar festival that lasts for 10 days that ends in the first week of December with a huge feast. You will be able to see many historic reenactments such as jousting and archery. If you are planning to dine on the boar then you will not want to miss out on the local wines that are perfect accompaniment, from Tuscany the Brunello di Montalchino and from Piedmont the Barolo. This is one of the highlights of the fall tours of Tuscany.

Whether you are on one of the guided tours of Tuscany or plan to set out on your own there is so much to see and do you may find that you have to return several times to take it all in. The region is home to cities like Florence, and Pisa as well as several world renowned art museums such as the Accademia Gallery where you can see Michelangelo's David as well as works by artists such as Botticelli and Perugino. If shopping is more your style there are several outlet stores that offer clothing from some of the top Italian fashion designers in the Tuscany region.

Taking one of the mainstream guided tours of Tuscany can be a little overcrowded especially the large scale bus tours. A small scale tour such as those offered by Queenslander Tours may be more what you had in mind. Limited to no more than 16 people per tour group and led by a licensed professional Italian guide, their tours give you the opportunity to see the Tuscany region in ways that you could never hope to experience in one the large bus tours that often have more than 75 people in each bus.
